Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller
Citizen of The Deep
Rolex created the Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller in 1967 to meet the challenge of prolonged underwater missions. The Sea-Dweller is specifically designed for saturation diving. Thanks to its helium escape valve, it can withstand decompression on ascent and master the return to the surface – the final phase of deep-sea exploration.
Dengan jaminan kalis air hingga kedalaman 610 meter (2,000 kaki) semasa dilancarkan pada tahun 1967, kemudian kepada 1,220 meter (4,000 kaki) dari tahun 1978, Sea-Dweller menggabungkan semua sifat jam tangan penyelam moden.
Diuji dalam keadaan sebenar sebagai sebahagian daripada program Tektite yang dijalankan bersama oleh NASA, Tentera Laut AS dan Kerajaan AS pada tahun 1969, Sea-Dweller telah digunakan dalam eksperimen utama habitat bawah air yang pertama.
Lembaran baharu dunia penyelaman
Pada tahun 1960-an, selaman “tepu” membolehkan penyelam kekal berada di laut dalam untuk tempoh yang lama. Para penyelam ditempatkan dalam habitat bertekanan untuk menghasilkan semula tekanan yang wujud dalam persekitaran kerja bawah air mereka. Jadi, mereka hanya perlu menjalani satu proses penyahmampatan pada akhir misi.
Proses ini boleh merosakkan jam tangan. Para penyelam menghirup campuran gas yang terutamanya terdiri daripada helium yang memiliki atom yang sangat halus dan mampu menembusi penutup jam. Semasa naik ke permukaan, helium yang terperangkap boleh mencipta fenomena tekanan dalaman berlebihan yang boleh menjejaskan keutuhan jam tangan penyelam.
Menguasai penyahmampatan dengan injap lepas helium
Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, Rolex memperkenalkan Sea-Dweller, jam tangan penyelam dengan injap lepas helium pada tahun 1967. Injap ini diskrukan pada penutup dan terdiri daripada silinder kedap udara, omboh, gasket dan pegas yang bertindak sebagai injap keselamatan. Injap ini terbuka secara automatik apabila tekanan dalaman di dalam penutup terlalu tinggi, lantas membolehkan atom helium terlepas.
Kejelasan yang cemerlang
Paparan Chromalight yang eksklusif untuk Rolex, memberi Sea-Dweller kebolehbacaan optimum dalam apa-apa keadaan. Penanda jam, jarum, kapsul dan bezel diisi atau disalut dengan bahan pendarkilau menggunakan tangan, yang memancarkan cahaya biru ketika gelap yang bertahan hingga dua kali ganda lebih lama daripada bahan pendarfosfor tradisional.
Kekalisan air yang diperkuat
The Sea-Dweller is equipped with a Triplock winding crown. This screw-down crown was invented in 1970 and comprises three waterproofness zones. It reinforces the impermeability of the Sea-Dweller’s 43 mm Oyster case, whose middle case is crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel, a particularly corrosion-resistant alloy.
